How to Choose a Base for Your First Charter Week in Italy
Permalink

Italy is not one cruising ground but several, and the base you pick shapes the whole week. Liguria and Toscana suit short hops around Elba and the Tuscan archipelago. Sardinia and Sicily bring island cruising, from La Maddalena to the Aeolians. Naples, Salerno and Amalfi put Capri, Ischia and the Cilento bays within reach, though berths in busy marinas fill early.

Before you compare yacht charters in Italy, check these points:

  • Most boats go out Saturday to Saturday, so plan your dates around that.
  • Bareboat usually requires an ICC or RYA certificate plus a VHF licence. Otherwise, add a skipper.
  • Fuel, marina fees, final cleaning, linen and the security deposit are typically charged on top of the base rate.
  • June and September tend to be quieter than July and August.

Picking the base really does shape the whole week, and checking extra costs like marina fees early saves surprises later. I planned a sailing trip last summer and spent evenings on routes while my own business branding sat untouched, so I used company logo design UK support to sort that side properly. It freed my time for planning. Good preparation always pays off.
