Logistics Software Fails at the Seams, Not in the Features
Permalink

In my experience, the feature list is rarely what sinks a logistics system. Trouble starts where it meets everything else: the ERP, carrier systems, telematics, the warehouse. So when a team plans to develop logistics software, I ask first which systems it must exchange data with, how often, and what happens when one of them is down. A shipment status that is hours out of date can be worse than no status at all. Next comes data ownership: one source of truth for orders, one for inventory. Solar Digital’s logistics page lists ERP sync (SAP is named as an example), API links with carriers and telematics, and GPS/AIS tracking among its integrations, which is a sensible starting point for a scoping conversation.
